STOCKS: Worry surrounding the first USD/CNY fix after mainland China's Labour
Day holidays, coupled with USD/JPY breaking below last week's low built on the
negative momentum that was seen into the NY close (largely attributed to the
commentary provided by Fed Vice Chair Clarida), weighing on e-minis in early
Asia-Pac trade.
- The USD/CNY fix failed to generate the fireworks that many feared, with the
bid in crude also providing some light support for the equity space, allowing
e-minis and the major regional Asia-Pac equity markets to move away from lows.
- Liquidity is still thinned by the ongoing Japanese holiday, although Tokyo
will return to action on Thursday.
- Hang Seng +0.7%, CSI 300 +0.4%, ASX 200 +0.6%.
- S&P 500 futures +3, DJIA futures +29, NASDAQ 100 futures +9.
