ECB VIEW
ECB VIEW: ###(2/2) Barclays: Believe GC will discuss options of QE taper but
don't expect policy change in June, but July. Expect staff projections to show
slight downward revision to near term growth & upward revision to headline CPI.
- Commerzbank: ECB likely to indicate end of QE this week but with core
inflation probably remaining subdued next year, a meaningful rate hiking cycle
will likely not take place.
- TD: Believe ECB will delay decision on QE to July meeting. Draghi need to
strike a delicate tone, expressing enough confidence in recovery to justify end
of QE, while acknowledging growing downside risks.
- Nordea: Decision on ECB APP could come this week, though find July a slightly
more likely timing. Expect a tapering announcement to be packaged with dovish
guidance on rates and expect 1st rate hike in Dec 2019
- Citi: Expect interest rates to remain unchanged, as should be the guidance on
interest rates, asset purchases and reinvestments, this is an important meeting.
- Jefferies: Expect ECB to wait until July to make announcement on QE which
would be cut by E10bln p/m for 3-months
