2033 Dollar Bond Over Three Times Subscribed

TURKEY
  • Turkey’s 2033 dollar bond issue was more than three times subscribed, the Finance Ministry said in a statement this morning. $2.75b was priced yesterday to yield 9.75%, down from IPTs around the 10.125% area.
  • There remains high volatility in the Borsa Istanbul 100 Index, which declined 5.19% yesterday, triggering a circuit breaker amid investors booking profits on last year’s 200% rally as well as touted leveraged fund sales. The YTD losses now amount close to 15%. The Index starts today’s session 3.78% higher, with further volatility expected ahead as markets await US inflation data.
  • Turkey's retail sales rose 12.1% Y/Y in November versus a revised 9.3% increase in October, data released this morning showed. This is the highest rate of growth since May last year.
  • There are no more domestic data releases left on the docket. President Erdogan will speak in Ankara today at 1130 GMT/1430 local time.
