700MW Lithuanian-Poland Power Link Suitable to be Built on Land

Lithuanian TSO Litgrid has concluded that building the 700MW Harmony power link between Poland-Lithuania on land is a suitable alternative to building it at Sea, with the official decision to be made by the end of 2024, it said.

  • The onshore cable would partially use the infrastructure corridor of the planned Rail Baltica railway route between Poland and Lithuania.
  • The decision to build the project on land was due to the high cost associated with constructing the project on the seabed – which pushed the project over budget.
  • The project is anticipated to be completed in 1Q 2028 and will be the second interconnector between the two countries.
