A Light Week, Focus On Retail Sales

It is a light week in Australia with the focus on Friday’s April retail sales.

  • The Judo Bank preliminary May PMIs are released on Tuesday. The services and composite indices are in expansionary territory but manufacturing continues to contract.
  • On Wednesday Westpac’s leading indicator for April prints. It has fallen for the last 5 months.
  • On Friday retail sales for April are published, which are likely to be the focus of the week. They rose 0.4% m/m in March and a similar rise is expected in April with Bloomberg consensus at 0.3% m/m.
  • RBA’s Jacobs, Head of Domestic Markets, speaks at the Australian Government Fixed Income Forum in Tokyo on Wednesday at 1710 AEST.
