A$ Starts Week Down Slightly, Australia Closed Today

AUDUSD has started the week down slightly at 0.6668 after finishing Friday at 0.6683. It outperformed the G10 at the end of last week with only kiwi doing better as the USD index rose 0.3% following an almost-on-expectations payroll report.

  • Key short-term support is at 0.6625, the April 3 low, and resistance at 0.6793, the April 4 high. On Friday AUDUSD reached a high of 0.6691 before a low of 0.6641 following US payrolls.
  • Aussie is currently flat versus the kiwi at 1.0670 after falling 0.2% on Friday. AUDJPY is down 0.2% to 88.02 after rising 0.3%. AUDEUR is 0.1% lower at 0.6112 after rising 0.1% and AUDGBP is -0.1% to 0.5368 after rising 0.2%.
  • Equity and commodity markets were closed across Europe and the US. S&P e-minis rose 0.2% on Friday. Iron ore is around $116/t.
  • Australia is closed today. There is confidence data this week as well as employment numbers on Thursday.
