GILT SUMMARY: A YouGov survey for The Evening Standard shows Nigel Farage's
Brexit Party topping the polls ahead of next month's European parliamentary
election. The former UKIP leader's new party had support of 27% of survey
respondents, compared to 22% for Labour and 15% for the Conservatives.  
- Ex-Labour cabinet minister Margaret Beckett has argued that her party can win
the EP elections if it backs remaining in the EU. 
- Gilt yields have drifted lower during the afternoon and the curve has
steepened slightly on the back of the short-end outperforming. Current yield
levels: 2-year 0.785%, 5-year 0.946%, 10-year 1.233%, 30-year 1.742%. The 2s10s
spread trades at 43.9bp and is 1.8bp wider on the day.
- The Jun-19 gilt future trades at 126.71, 8 ticks off the high.
- Short sterling futures are broadly 0.5-2.0 ticks lower.
- Next up on the data calendar will be the retail sales reading for March and
the Bank of England's credit conditions survey, both published tomorrow.
