Advance Q1 GDP Readings Marginally Beat Expectations, Cabinet To Discuss Pension Reforms

  • Czechia's economic output rose 0.4% Y/Y in 1Q2024, topping expectations of a 0.3% expansion, according to advance data released by the CZSO. Sequential growth came in at +0.5% Q/Q versus +0.4% expected. The report is one of the final data releases ahead of the CNB's rate decision on Thursday.
  • Labour and Social Affairs Minister Marian Jurecka will present pension reform proposal to the Cabinet today. Talks with the opposition mediated by President Petr Pavel broke down, which means that the government will likely press ahead with its original ideas.
  • Senior executives of the TOP 09 party will announce the replacement for ex-Science and Research Minister Helena Langsadlova during a presser at 12:15BST/13:15CEST. Speculation is rife that Pavel Tuleja could succeed her after iDNES reported that he appeared in parliament this morning, confirming that he is interested in the position.
  • Czechia's March M2 money supply will cross the wires at 09:00BST/10:00CEST.
