HUNGARY
  • Piroska Szalai, an advisor to the prime minister, said real wage growth was over 9pc - but closer to 10pc - in 2024. Szalai acknowledged that year-end CPI was a little high compared to the previous months, but said it came as no surprise because of base effects.
  • Natural gas capacity from Hungary to Slovakia will rise to 3.5bcm/year from 2.63bcm/year as of April 1, Hungarian gas transmission system operator FGSZ said in a statement.
  • The central bank will publish the minutes from its December rate-setting meeting at 13:00GMT/14:00CET. As a reminder, the central bank kept its base rate unchanged at 6.5% back then, as was widely expected, while Deputy Governor Virag remained hawkish. Our review can be found here.
