African Bunker Prices Supported by Red Sea Container Diversions

OIL PRODUCTS

Bunker demand at African ports is being supported by mainly containerships diverting around the Cape of Good Hope because of Red Sea Houthi attacks since mid-December according to Lloyds List reporting.

  • Bunker supply availability in some African locations could be diminished in the coming months if widespread diversions persist according to bunker supplier Monjasa.
  • “Overall availability and supply logistics are surely being tested right now in Africa, however, at present all fuel grades can be arranged with a sufficient notice,” a Monjasa trader said.
  • See Engine chart for bunker price support, particularly noted for Lome.
