JAPAN: After being widely touted in the local press, Sunday saw the Nikkei cite
a government official, who noted that "Prime Minister Shinzo Abe is planning to
extend Japan's state of emergency by around a month through May 31 to fight the
novel coronavirus."
- Expect a formal announcement to come from the highest level of government at
some point today.
