GILT SUMMARY
GILT SUMMARY: After hitting 4-month lows Tuesday, Gilts have begun Wednesday on
the front foot, with UK PM May set to speak at the UN.
- The Dec 18 Gilt future is up 13 ticks at 120.59, having traded in a range of
120.45-120.6 today. Tuesday`s low, weakest since late May, was 120.35.
- The cash Gilt curve is bull flattening with the 2-Yr yield down 0.8bps at
0.828%, 5-Yr down 1.1bps at 1.195%, 10-Yr down 1.2bps at 1.62%, and 30-Yr down
1.2bps at 1.972%.
- Short Sterling futures are relatively flat, with longer-dated contracts up a
tick.
- PM May is in New York today, speaking at the UN General Assembly (we are
hearing 1340BST), and at a Bloomberg forum (at which she is going to reiterate a
pledge to keep business taxes low).
- Data today includes UK Finance Loans for Housing for August at 0930BST. In
July, the new home loan approvals dipped to 39,584 from 40,330 in June.
- US Fed FOMC decision later today likely to take focus.
