UK PREVIEW
UK PREVIEW: Ahead of tomorrow's UK CPI release, MNI's data team note that in
recent years analysts have tended to under-estimate CPI in the month of Easter.
Six of the last ten years have seen MNI median analyst estimates fall short of
the actual figure. This March, the general market consensus is for inflation to
hold steady at 2.7%, with this view tilted to the downside. Fifteen of the
sixteen analysts polled by MNI see CPI either unchanged or falling, suggesting
markets may not be well primed for an upside surprise like we have seen in
recent years. For the full report please see MNI Main Wire 1606BST.
