UK PREVIEW: Ahead of tomorrow's UK Retail Sales release, analysts at Barclays
note following the weather related weakness in the March retail sales, we expect
a bounce back in April; however, we expect the underlying structural weakness to
continue.
- TD think markets will be watching retail sales more closely than usual to see
how much of a rebound we get after weather disruptions in March and a soft Q1 in
general. We look for a 1.1% gain, with upside coming from a rebound in gasoline
sales and a strong Visa expenditure survey, but some downside risk from the BRC
and soft house prices. Consensus is wide at -0.8% to +1.7%.
