GILT SUMMARY
GILT SUMMARY: Although the imminent risk of a no-deal Brexit has been taken off
the table after Article 50 was extended, the Guardian reports that PM Theresa
May has written to civil servants stating that no-deal preparations must
continue.
- Although this is only likely to be procedural, additional contingency planning
could be seized upon by hardline eurosceptics to argue in favour of a managed-no
deal later in the year.
- Gilt yields are 1-2bp higher on the day. Current yield level: 2-year 0.792%,
5-year 0.944%, 10-year 1.233%, 30-year 1.736%.
- The Jun-19 gilt future trades at 126.71 near the bottom of the day's range.
- Shorts sterling futures are 0.5-1.0 ticks lower.
