US DATA REACT: Amherst Pierpont economist Stephen Stanley said today's "ISM
non-manufacturing gauge for September surged to 59.8, up 4.5 points to the
highest level since 2005 and the fourth-highest in the 20-year history of the
series. So much for the impact of Hurricanes Harvey and Irma."
- "In fact, as with the ISM manufacturing report, respondents to the
non-manufacturing survey indicated that the main impact of the storms was to
disrupt supply chains, but the underlying strength of the economy appears to
have picked up steam," he said.
