ANC Set to Report on Coalitions After Weekend NEC, Eskom Investigates Suspicious Failures

  • ANC says it has concluded coalition talks with political parties and report back to its NEC to discuss possible agreements with an announcement on Sunday.
    • Almost all ANC-led municipalities have abjectly failed to deliver services over the last five-year period, most bordering on collapse. The party now says it has partnered with parties that want to put service delivery first and promised to root out corruption.
    • It has made agreements with the IFP to allow the parties with majorities in KZN to govern there and has also teamed up with the Patriotic Alliance
  • Eskom investigations into suspicious activity that caused 5 plant failures show: a dropped extension cable, collapsed pylon (that fell uphill) and unexplained coal truck seals.
    • CEO De Ruyter says the incident is being investigated and people should avoid speculation. Interestingly, a report on Eskom's R400bn debt pile is expected to reach Ramaohosa's desk soon according to Deputy Pres Mabuza
