Anti-Ramaphosa Faction Start Talks on United Front

  • News24 report that the Anti-Ramaphosa factions within the ANC have begun talks described as ‘frantic’ to present a united front when running against the President in December’s party leadership race.
  • Transnet confirmed a force majeure late yesterday, announcing that operations will be scaled down following strikes from workers at two separate unions. The workers continue to strike over wages, with the 3% offer submitted by Transnet management earlier this week falling short of inflation.
  • Gross and net reserves data came in just below expectations in September, at $58.89bln vs. Exp. $59.15bln for gross reserves, while net came in at $52.24bln vs. Exp. $52.62bln.
