APP Party/Ombudsman Ask Castillo to Reconsider PM Appointment

  • Peru’s Alianza por el Progreso (APP) party spokesperson Eduardo Salhuana asked President Castillo to replace newly appointed Prime Minister, he said in a Canal N broadcast.
    • Local media have linked Prime Minister Hector Valer to accusations of family violence. (BBG)
    • For reference, according to Peruvian law, the appointed Prime Minister needs a vote of confidence from congress.
    • Furthermore, overnight the Ombudsman’s office asked President Pedro Castillo to change the environment minister appointed Tuesday in the cabinet overhaul, according to a statement published on its Twitter, also asking Castillo to evaluate the Prime Minister.
