US DATA: April CPI +0.2% (unrounded +0.221%) vs +0.3% expectd by analysts
in an MNI survey and the +0.2% whisper number, with energy prices +1.4% 
(gasoline +3.0%) and food prices +0.3%. Ex-energy, overall CPI would 
have been +0.1%.  
- Core CPI +0.1% (+0.098% unrounded), vs +0.2% expected, with the large 
owners' equivalent rents category +0.3%, lodging away from home +0.7%, 
medical care +0.1% and apparel +0.3%, offsetting new vehicles -0.5% and 
used vehicles -1.6%, the largest decline since March 2009.
- The y/y rate for headline CPI ticked up to +2.5% vs +2.4% in March, 
while the y/y rate for core CPI held steady at +2.1%.
- Overall, the data suggest little concern for inflation watchers, even 
with the modest uptick in the year/year rate for the headline number.
