April durable goods new orders -1.7% vs led.>

US DATA: April durable goods new orders -1.7% vs -1.2% expected, led 
down by a -6.1% in transport. Durables orders were +2.7% in March.
- However, durable goods ex-trans orders +0.9% vs +0.6% exp and after 
+0.4% in March. This stronger-than-expected reading reflected gains in 
every ex-trans component except a 0.8% decline in machinery orders.
-Within transport, nondefense aircraft orders -29.0% after +60.7% in 
March, but defense aircraft orders +7.5% and mtr vehicle orders +1.8% 
(largest gain since August). The unlisted transportation components 
-3.8%, according to an MNI calc.
- Nondefense capital goods new orders -6.8%, but +1.0% ex. aircraft. 
- Durable shipments -0.1%. Nondef cap gds shipments -4.6%, but +0.8% ex. 
air. Durable inventories +0.3%, unfilled orders +0.5%.
