April Gross Fixed Investment, Private Consumption Due At 1300BST

  • On the data front, gross fixed investment and private consumption figures for April are due at 1300BST(0800ET). Analysts expect investment to rise by 0.7% m/m, with the annual rate rebounding to 17.9% y/y, from 2.6%. Private consumption is expected to rise by 8.1% y/y. Weekly international reserves data are also due at 1600BST(1100ET).

  • Meanwhile, Finance Minister Rogelio Ramirez de la O and Deputy Finance Minister Gabriel Yorio are due to participate in an event marking the 90th anniversary of development bank Nacional Financiera today.
  • In other news, President-elect Sheinbaum said yesterday that she would not draw a line under President AMLO, saying that it would be a betrayal of the Mexican people. She also reiterated that she is in favour of a judicial reform that would see judges selected by popular vote.
