LNG: Arctic LNG 2 Cargo Heading to Storage After Failing to Find Buyer
LNG
The East Energy vessel is heading to the Koryak floating storage unit in Kamchatka, according to Bloomberg ship-tracking, as Russia continues to struggle to find buyers for LNG from Arctic LNG 2 amid western sanctions.
- The vessel, previously known as Asya Energy, has idled in Asia since loading a shipment from the Arctic LNG 2 facility in September.
- Dark fleet LNG shipments have failed to find buyers willing to circumvent US restrictions.
- Operations at Novatek’s Arctic LNG 2 project have been halted since US sanctions were implemented in October 2024. The facility exported 6 cargoes after starting in August.
