Argentina Pre-Authorises Gas Exports to Brazil: Neuquen

Argentina has pre-authorised drillers to pipe natural gas to Brazil, according to the province of Neuquen, cited by Bloomberg.

  • Neuquen holds the largest share of Argentine shale reserves.
  • Total has been pre-authorised to send up to 1 mcm/d, with Matrix Energy Participacoes as the buyer.
  • Tecpetrol has also been pre-authorised to send 1.5 mcm/d with MGAS Comercializadora de Gas Natural as the buyer.
  • Pan American Energy has applied to send 0.5 mcm/d with its own Brazil arm as the buyer.
  • Argentina has held talks with Brazil about exploring its increasing output of Shale gas and the best way to achieve it.
  • Argentina currently lacks the infrastructure to export gas to Brazil.
