STOCKS: Asia-Pac stocks are in the green to end the week, taking their lead from
US stocks which hit yet another record high as the Dow Jones scaled the 25,000
level. Asia-Pac stocks are on track for their best week 6-months after a stellar
start to 2018.
- In Japan the Nikkei 225 up 100 points at 23,605.95 and up 3.11% on the week.
After opening higher the index trended slightly lower after the news of the
Japanese earthquake, the downside was reversed after the lunch break after
reports detailed that the incident was small. A slightly weaker yen supported
gains in Japanese stocks USD/JPY last up 9 pips at 112.84.
- In Australia the ASX 200 is up 47 points at 6124, boosted by gains in the
Financial sector as the Big 4 gain and strong commodities. Healthcare stocks are
also higher after the news yesterday that medical marijauna products can be
exported from Australia.
- In China the Shanghai Comp is up 8 points at 3394, in Hong Kong the Hang Seng
is up 32 points at 30768. US futures are also building on gains made yesterday,
Dow Jones futures up 31 points at 25,084.
