STOCKS: Asia-Pacific stocks operated in mixed fashion as they await the outcome
of the Trump-Kim summit in Singapore, although few expect a definitive outcome
from today's meeting.
- Japan's Nikkei 225 retreated from the opening highs to trade ~0.3% higher in
the morning session. The energy sector was the index's outperformer, although
materials provided some weight to the index. The Hang Seng also added 0.3% with
the health care and energy sectors leading the way, while consumer staples
provided the most weight. Elsewhere China's CSI 300 added 0.3%. Australia's ASX
added 0.3% after the long holiday weekend as the IT sector outperformed, while
utilities & materials provided the most weight.
- US index futures fluctuated either side of neutral, but last trade virtually
unchanged on the session.
