Asian Crude Imports Recover in September

Asian crude imports recovered in September at 26.58 mn bpd, up from 24.90 million bpd in August, according to Refinitiv.

  • It was the third-highest month for imports this year and the most since May's 26.62 mn bpd.
  • China, the world's biggest oil importer, saw arrivals of 10.19 mn bpd, up 650,000 bpd from August - the strongest month since May.
  • The increase in September imports for China and Singapore was 1.43 mn bpd, which is 85% of the gain of 1.68 mn bpd from August's total for the whole of Asia.
  • India, the continent's second-largest buyer, pulled in 4.11 mn bpd in September, slightly down from 4.15 mn bpd in August.
