Asian Price Following Surging EU Gas

Asian LNG prices have followed surging TTF prices due to the squeeze on global gas supplies

  • Asian buyers are competing with Europe in attempting to secure LNG supplies to replenish stocks and cover winter demand. Despite the rallying JKM prices the front month spread to TTF is still at a discount of about -20$/mmbtu.
  • The US LNG netback to Europe for October is estimated at 83.91$/mmbtu to Asia has increased to 54.59$/mmbtu.
  • Europe is expecting another 8 LNG cargoes to arrive at terminals before the end of the month ahead of the outage to Nord Stream pipeline flows on Aug 31.
