FED: Atlanta Fed Pres. Bostic (non-2020 voter) and Cleveland Fed Pres. Mester
(2020 voter) have commented this morning on the current economic outlook.
- Nothing really new but some updates on their current thinking on risk outlook
(comments taken from Bloomberg coverage of the respective events):
- Bostic comments that he is not seeing risk levels rising to a point that they
are a "source of concern"; "all in all, I would say the economy is in a pretty
good place and it can go on".
- "We are in a pretty good place" on the path of interest rates, with the Fed`s
stance being "slightly accommodative" currently.
- Says Fed pretty close to inflation target, and the job market is we are pretty
on target with inflation`, job market doing "quite well".
- On risks, Bostic says Coronavirus makes it "very difficult to do forecasting",
while the upcoming election is creating some uncertainty for businesses.
- Mester had less to say on the near-term outlook, but commented that the trade
deals reached on USMCA and China would lessen uncertainty.
