Attack on Ukrainian Gas Storage Will Not Critically Impact Operations

NATGAS

Sunday’s attack on a natural gas underground storage side in western Ukraine will not critically impact the UGS operations, a Naftogaz spokesperson said on Monday, cited by Montel.

  • Naftogaz’ CEO Oleksiy Chernyshov said earlier that the underground storage itself was not damaged but other equipment on the ground had been damaged.
  • Roman Maliutin, acting CEO of Ukrainian gas storage operator UTG, said some withdrawal capacity may have been lost but engineers were expected to review the situation on the ground and report back in upcoming days according to ICIS.
  • Technical withdrawal capacity stood at 79mcm/day prior to the attack.
