GILT SUMMARY: Attorney General Geoffrey Cox has travelled to Brussels to meet
with the EU's Brexit negotiator Michel Barnier in a bid to find a compromise to
the Irish backstop which will appease Eurosceptic MPs ahead of the March 12
parliamentary vote.
- Gilt yields have drifted lower since mid-morning and are now nearing
yesterday's closing levels. Current yield levels: 2-year 0.797%, 5-year 1.005%,
10-year 1.300%, 30-year 1.805%.
- The Mar-19 gilt future trades at 123.13 at the top of the day's range.
- Inflation breakevens have pushed higher since midday, although spot gains have
been minimal.
- Cable has been on the backfoot since mid-morning and currently trades at
1.3195 down from a daily high of 1.3273.
- Short sterling futures trade flat/0.5 ticks higher in whites, flat in reds and
broadly 0.5-1.0 ticks lower in greens/blues.
