AUSSIE
AUSSIE: AUD/USD extends gains into the London session, ahead of a speech from
RBA Governor Lowe. The rate currently deals at $0.6856, 18 pips better off. The
Aussie managed to take over its Antipodean cousin as the best G10 performer.
- Lowe's speech is titled "Some Echoes of Melville" and will be delivered at
06:45GMT/17:45AEDT. Per the RBA website, the text of the speech will be
available under embargo and a Q&A session will follow.
- The Aussie drew support from the positive risk backdrop, amid optimism
surrounding U.S.-China trade negotiations.
- The 100-DMA at $0.6850 gave way, clearing the way to the Oct 22 high of
$0.6883. A break above would open up $0.6895, the high of Sep 12. Bears look for
a return under the 100-DMA, which would allow them to set their sights on the
Oct 25 trough at $0.6809.
