AUSSIE: AUD/USD trades little changed at $0.6940 as we type. The rate opened a
handful of pips below Friday's close, but has recouped losses. Participants
continue to assess the global Covid-19 situation, from both epidemiological and
economic perspective.
- Locally, the renewed spread of coronavirus infections in Victoria remains in
focus, with the state premier announcing a hardship payment scheme for 3,000
people quarantined in public housing tower blocks in Melbourne. Separately, the
Australian reported that "China is considering measures targeting Britain and
Australia - expected in the form of increased tariffs on exports".
- Australian FinMin Cormann announced that he will step down at the end of the
year and will not stand in the next general election.
- Topside focus falls on Jun 16 high of $0.6977 and a breach of this key level
would open up round figure/Jun 11 high of $0.7000/05. Bears look for a fall
through Jun 22 low of $0.6805, towards Jun 15 low of $0.6777.
- Aussie Melbourne Institute inflation & ANZ job ads are due today, RBA delivers
its latest MonPol decision Tuesday & housing finance data hits Thursday.
