AUDUSD Little Changed, AUDNZD Lower Following Solid NZ Non-Tradeables CPI

AUDUSD is 0.1% higher during today’s APAC trading at around 0.6741 after falling 0.4% on Tuesday. The USD is also little changed. But Aussie lost ground against kiwi due to the key NZ non-tradeables CPI printing higher than expected even though headline was lower at 3.3% y/y. AUDNZD is down 0.4% to 1.1089, after a low of 1.1073. Mixed regional equities are also not helping Aussie.

  • AUDJPY is 0.1% higher at 106.75 after a high of 106.83. AUDEUR has weakened over the last few sessions but is up moderately today to 0.6180 after a low of 0.6172 earlier. AUDGBP is 0.1% higher at 0.5194.
  • Equities are mixed with the ASX up 1% and Hang Seng +0.2% but the CSI 300 is down 0.2% and S&P e-mini -0.1%. Oil prices are moderately higher with WTI at $80.79/bbl. Copper is up 0.4% and iron ore is around $108/t.
  • Later the Fed’s Barkin and Waller both speak on the economy and the Beige Book is published. June UK CPI and final June euro area CPI print, as well as US June housing and IP data.
