AUDUSD Range Trading But A$ Stronger Against Other Currencies

AUDUSD has been range trading during the APAC session to be flat at 0.6880, close to the high of 0.6881 after a low of 0.6857 earlier. The USD is 0.2% stronger driven by heightened geopolitical tensions.

  • Aussie is doing better against the major currencies than against the USD. It is up 0.1% against kiwi to 1.1025 and up 0.3% against the yen to 92.52. It is also 0.2% higher against the euro and pound to 0.6443 and 0.5723 respectively.
  • Equity markets are mixed in the region with the Nikkei down 0.1% but the ASX flat. S&P e-minis are down 0.1%. WTI oil is down 0.1% to $76.30/bbl. Iron ore prices are around $126/t after reaching $127.60 on Friday.
  • The US is closed today for the President’s holiday. Tomorrow the minutes from this month’s RBA meeting are published and preliminary Judo Bank PMIs for February print.
