  • Australia retail trade fell 1.7% month-on-month in August in seasonally adjusted estimate, lower than the 2.7% m/m fall registered in July
  • Retail Trade fell 0.7% compared with August 2020, slower from the previous 3.1% y/y drop.
  • Food retailing rose 2.1% ($269.9m) in August.
  • Household goods retailing fell 2.3% (-$124.5m).
  • Clothing, footwear and personal accessory retailing fell 15.7% (-$304.4m).
  • Department stores fell 10.2% (-$141.8m).
  • Other retailing rose 0.8% ($37.3m).
