Following headlines earlier this morning from Bloomberg regarding the halting of economic dialogue between China and Australia, comments on the matter from the Chinese side are hitting wires/social media.
- Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin stated that 'Australia's policies have harmed mutual trust', while stating that 'we were forced to act legitimately in Australia'.
- Earlier this morning China confirmed its indefinite suspension of the China-Australia Strategic Economic Dialogue. The action is more symbolic than anything else, with the Dialogue not having met its scheduled 3 times a year since 2014 and has not met at all since 2017 according to Bloomberg.
