Authorities End HK Criminal Assistance Links w/ UK, Canada, Australia

The Chinese Foreign Ministry has stated that Hong Kong will suspend any
agreements on mutual assistance regarding to criminal matters with the UK,
Canada and Australia.

  • Comes after each country, as well as New Zealand, suspended their
    extradition treaties with Hong Kong following the imposition of a new
    national security law on Hong Kong. Opponents to the law say it violates
    the 'one country, two systems' precedent.
  • Foreign ministry spokesman also speaking on different issues, says that
    tensions on the Sino-Indian border in the Himalayas around the disputed
    Line of Actual Control are easing.
  • Also says that China "hopes the US can show flexibility" on the Korean
    peninsula.
