Azerbaijan, Albania In Talks For Gas Pipeline Expansions

Azerbaijan and Albania have started talks on doubling the capacity of the Trans-Adriatic and Trans-Anatolia Pipelines, Azerbaijan’s president Ilham Aliyev said.

  • “Azerbaijan can act as an investor in this and we’re ready for it”, the president said.
  • Albania has recently been looking to increase gas consumption in the future, as its heavy dependency on hydropower generation has demanded higher imports amid droughts in the region.
  • Albania targets to increase its gas use to 2.4bcm/yr, which demands new infrastructure.
