UK: Barclays latest Brexit survey shows that investors are now "more open to
considering a wider range of potential scenarios" on Brexit and domestic
politics than previously:
- Investors see the political "ping pong" has tilted negotiations towards a
softer form of Brexit.
- Survey showed that an "increasing number of investors think contingency plans
should be implemented immediately" as transitional period has not been signed.
- Only 48% of investors think Theresa May will remain as PM until March 2019,
down from over 60% seen last month
- The number of investors concerned about a coalition led by the opposition
compared to other scenarios has fallen from near 70% to just under 50%
- Investors "remain deeply sceptical about an agreement on the Irish border
being reached by October EU summit.
- There has been a 10% swing in investors thinking that chances of Brexit being
reversed from "unlikely" to "maybe"
