ITALY
ITALY: BBG summarises a piece from La Stampa, citing talks between national and
regional governments on Monday.
- The government has agreed to allow regions to decide for themselves if the
next category of post-lockdown openings can go ahead on May 18, two weeks ahead
of schedule.
- Regional governments would be allowed to open bars, restaurants & biz
originally scheduled to be shut until June 1, in line with the re-opening for
retailers.
- The piece suggests the discussions have delayed decisions re: a possible new
deficit-funded program to support the labour market & SMEs.
- Piece notes that travel between regions will likely still be banned
(potentially until mid-June), although government is looking for ways to avoid
quarantining foreign arrivals this summer, as it looks to support the tourism
sector.
