BCCh President Costa Says Tightening Needs To Continue At Slower Pace

  • Chile’s central bank needs to continue monetary tightening but at a slower pace to bring inflation to target, bank president Rosanna Costa told newspaper La Tercera. (BBG)
    • “The advantage is that the central bank started its work early and has already done a good part of the monetary policy work,” Costa told the Santiago-based newspaper in a story published Sunday. “Therefore, minor rate adjustments are left in accordance with the current scenario.”

  • According to latest Cadem poll published on Sunday, 43% of those surveyed say they would vote against the new Constitution, compared to 45% in previous survey, while 39% would be in favor of approving the new Constitution vs. 42% a week ago. Meanwhile, the number of undecided people ahead of the plebiscite increased by 5pts to 18%.
