Belly Outperforms On Liquidity Enhancement Auction

JGB futures held a tight range, briefly managing to push through the 152.00 mark in afternoon trade, last printing +1 on the day, just shy of that psychological level, as the 5-20 Year sector outperformed in cash trade on the back of a well-received liquidity enhancement auction for off the run 5-15.5 Year JGBs. The shorter end of the JGB curve lagged.

  • Elsewhere, Japan authorised a further ~Y1.6tn worth of spending to help fight COVID, although the cash will come from reserves, not fresh issuance.
  • The key ministers are expected to keep their roles in PM designate Suga's cabinet, per local press reports, which doesn't represent a surprise.
