BHP Group Seeks Mediation To Avert CIO Strike

CHILE

(Bloomberg) BHP Group has requested a mediation process to seek a wage deal with staff at a remote operations centre in Santiago, according to the Chilean union.

  • After most of the union's 203 members workers rejected the company's final wage offer last week, BHP is taking up an option under Chilean labour rules to begin five days of government mediation, a union leader said in a text message.
  • If there is still no deal after the five days, a strike could start or both sides could agree to a five-day extension of mediation.
