Biden Says Rocket That Struck Polish Village Unlikely to be Russian

- US officials cited by AP said preliminary assessments suggest that the missile which struck a Polish village near the border of Ukraine was fired by Ukrainian forces at an incoming Russian missile amid the ongoing salvo against Ukraine’s electrical infrastructure. In addition, US President Joe Biden said that the rocket was unlikely to have been fired from Russia, comments that may limit the risk of a major escalation in tensions over the incident, Bloomberg say.
- China is willing to help organise any potential peace talks on Ukraine, Foreign Minister Wang Yi told his Russian counterpart, Sergei Lavrov, at the Group of 20 summit in Bali, Bloomberg report. “China will continue to uphold an objective and fair position and play a constructive role in persuading peace and promoting talks,” Wang said according to a statement released by the Foreign Ministry in Beijing late Tuesday.
