Biden Strengthens In Critical Swing State Pennsylvania

US

A new survey from Emerson College Polling has seen President Biden strengthen slightly in a hypothetical 2024 rematch with former President Donald Trump in the crucial swing state of Pennsylvania.

  • Biden won Pennsylvania in 2020, moderating a slight swing to the right which saw Trump win the state in 2016 – the first GOP win in Pennsylvania since George HW Bush in 1988.
  • Emerson notes: “Voters were asked if President Biden’s age raises serious doubts about voting for him in 2024, and separately if former President Donald Trump’s criminal indictments raise serious concerns about voting for him. Biden’s age raises concerns for 64% of Pennsylvania voters, while Trump’s indictments raise concerns for 57% of voters.”
  • According to the survey: “The economy is viewed as the top issue for 40% of voters, followed by healthcare (11%), immigration (11%), threats to democracy (10%), crime (8%), education (6%), and housing affordability (6%).”
