Biden To Deliver Remarks On Student Loan Debt Forgiveness

President Biden is shortly due to deliver remarks on his student loan debt relief plan at Delaware State University.

  • yesterday, Supreme Court Justice Amy Coney Barrett declined to halt the policy and a legal challenge to the plan, brought by Republican officials in Nebraska, Missouri, Arkansas, Iowa, Kansas and South Carolina, was blocked by a federal judge.
  • White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre commented on Republican efforts to block the plan: “There are opponents out there who are trying to take away what we’re trying to do, what the President is trying to do for the middle class.”
  • More than 12 million Americans have already applied for loan forgiveness since the Biden administration opened a website where loanees can request up to USD$20,000 of debt relief.
  • The plan may be a vote winner at the midterm ballot box next month. According to YouGov, 48% or voters support the measure against 34% who oppose. Democrat will be hoping that the plan can activate young voters who lean Democrat but often fail to vote.
