Wires and social media reporting that US President Joe Biden and Chinese President Xi Jinping will hold a virtual bilateral meeting on Monday 15 November. Politico reported yesterday that the meeting was tentatively set for Monday but this story seems to confirm the news.

  • The meeting has a large number of potential conversation topics. China's actions in Hong Kong, Xinjiang province, and towards Taiwan are all high in the US's foreign policy focus. However, due to their controversial nature it is unlikely that they will be brought up in any depth.
  • Efforts to combat climate change, reforming visa rules, starting talks on nuclear weapons, and ongoing trade and IP issues between the two nations likely to feature more heavily.
