Biden & Zelensky Could Meet In Poland Next Week-DGP

UKRAINE

Barring any unforeseen circumstances, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky will make an official visit to Poland ahead of the anniversary of Russia's full-scale invasion of his country, Dziennik Gazeta Prawna daily reports.

  • Zelensky visited Poland twice since the outbreak of the war, but only during stopovers en route to Washington DC or Western Europe. On either occasion, he briefly met with his Polish counterpart Andrzej Duda in the city of Rzeszow, which serves as a key gateway for military and humanitarian aid shipped into Ukraine.
  • According to Ukrainian diplomatic sources, Zelensky's next trip to Poland would be an official state visit. Preparations for the trip are reportedly being finalised, with Zelensky planning to go to Poland during U.S. President Joe Biden's visit to the country on February 20-22.
  • DGP notes that Polish sources refused to comment on the matter citing security concerns. The newspaper's Ukrainian sources suggested that Zelensky would like to use the trip to unveil his peace plan intended to rally international partners behind Ukraine as it resists the ongoing Russian invasion.
