Blinken, UN’s Guterres Discuss Grain Deal; Ukraine Attacks Key Bridge in Offensive

RUSSIA
  • US Secretary of State Antony Blinken spoke with UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres over a call, according to a readout by the State Department as per Bloomberg. The pair discussed Russia’s statements to not renew the Black Sea Grain Initiative by the July 17 deadline and both agreed on the importance of the deal to global food security and on the adverse impact its suspension would have on food importers.
  • The Wall Street Journal report that Ukrainian missiles struck a bridge that plays a key role in supplying Russia's front-line troops in the south of Ukraine, Russian and occupation officials said. The major attack threatens to undermine Moscow's hold in the area as Kyiv presses its counteroffensive.
  • Buyers of assets of foreign companies exiting the Russian market will be obliged to float 20% of the acquired shares on the stock market, Izvestia report citing Finance Minister Anton Siluanov. Companies from so-called “unfriendly” countries willing to dispose of assets in Russia have to agree to at least a 50% discount to the independent assessment of the market value of the asset.
